The Scholarship Programs of the Inspiration Alumni Foundation form the heart of our organization. Beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, the organization will administer the award programs described below. The first awards will be administered in the spring of 2009.
Future award programs include the addition of a graduating high school senior scholarship in which the meritorious award is administered to a student in the Mid-Atlantic Region of The United States. A national scholarship program may also be administered.
An Artist-in-Residence Fellowship may also be established to at least one upcoming independent musician in the Philadelphia area who will receive music business and industry education and services from screened volunteers who are members of the music industry and desire to devote pro bono services through The Inspiration Alumni Foundation, Inc. to talented musicians who are financially unable to acquire said services through their own means.
Graduating University of Pennsylvania Senior Award:
• Must have been a member for at least 2 full, consecutive semesters
• Must be a student in "good academic standing" as determined by registrar's office
• Must be on track to graduating during May of the awarded Spring semester
• Has exhibited leadership within and outside of The Inspiration
• Has exhibited strong commitment to The Inspiration as well as arts education
• Exemplifies leadership in the promotion and advancement of arts education within one's surrounding communities
"Outstanding Inspiration Example" Scholarship
• Must have been a member for at least 2 full, consecutive semesters
• Must not be a probationary member of The Inspiration
• Must be a student in "good academic standing" as determined by registrar's office
• Has exhibited leadership within and outside of The Inspiration
• Has exhibited strong commitment to The Inspiration and as well as arts education
• Has exhibited above and beyond musical talents*
• Exemplifies leadership in the promotion and advancement of arts education within one's surrounding communities
*Musical talents may consist of but is not limited to arranging songs, leading a section, solo performances, music direction or overall contribution to the group's exhibited level of excellence.
High School Senior/Junior College Transfer Award
* Must be a graduating senior of a high school in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
* Must be in good academic standing as determined by the applicant's school's registrar department or must posses a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
* Must provide a copy of an official high school transcript or letter on high school letterhead verifying graduating senior status.
* Must be accepted to an accredited 4 year college or university for the fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
ALL APPLICANTS MUST COMPLETE THE INSPIRATION ALUMNI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION AND INCLUDE:
1) A one-page essay from the candidate explaining
a. How music has impacted your life?
b. How do you believe this scholarship will benefit your future plans in the pursuit of music?
2) A letter of recommendation from a member of the school faculty or leader in the community with knowledge of the candidate's overall character, leadership qualities, and accomplishments in the area of music.
The Inspiration Alumni Foundation, Inc. shall notify the chosen award recipient of its decision. The award payment will be made after the selected student provides confirmation of the acceptance decision submitted to the school that he/she will attend or confirmation of registration for the upcoming year.
